We are pleased to announce the launch of our Research Fellowship Scheme, in partnership with the University of Strathclyde, School of Education.

Please see below for details.

Research Fellowship Scheme

The Hutchesons’ Centre for Research (HCR) and the University of Strathclyde, School of Education, invite applications to its Research Fellowship scheme for the academic year2015-2016.

Research Fellows will be provided with library and information systems access within Hutchesons' Grammar School and will be expected to spend part of their time in both locations. Office/desk space will be provided at Hutchesons' Grammar School.

Fellows will be expected to pursue their own research and to participate in mentoring activities for research active staff and pupils based in Hutchesons’ Grammar School. Hutchesons' Grammar staff and students participating in collaborative projects will be invited to suitable seminars, reading groups, and other aspects of the research life of the University of Strathclyde, School of Education.

The duration of the Fellowship can vary and applications to the Fellowship scheme will be assessed on an individual basis. PhD and Masters Students are welcome to apply as well as academic staff from the School of Education, Strathclyde University. While applicants may hold a PhD this is not a pre-requisite for the position of Fellow.

Proposed research projects should have a clear educational focus. Preference may be given to projects with a focus on school based research and/or enhancing pupil/teacher engagement with research. Fellows retain intellectual property rights relating to data collected during their tenure as Fellow. Projects will be subject to the approval of the ethics committees of the HCR and University of Strathclyde. (Authorship and rights to any collaborative works will be established on an individual basis). Projects addressing any of the following issues will be particularly welcome:

Teaching & learning,

Curriculum,

International education,

Intellectual character

Pastoral care

The HCR and the University of Strathclyde expects to be able to appoint one Fellow per academic year.

Fellows will receive a small stipend of up to £1000 from the Hutchesons’ Centre for Research. Successful candidates are expected to help identify potential additional sources of funding for the duration of their Fellowship if this is required as well as sources of funding for events that they might wish to organize.

To apply, please send:

– a CV;

to the Director of the HCR, Dr Philip Tonner (TonnerP@hutchesons.org)
