Hutchesons' Grammar School


The aim of the HCR is to create of a community of scholars comprised of our pupils, our staff and external researchers.

The HCR will foster and develop a spirit of research as a life-long and life-enhancing activity that develops an  individual’s intellectual and personal life as well as their academic and professional success. The HCR will be a hub for innovative research projects and will facilitate collaborations between Hutchesons' and the academic research community.

Research in School seminar 8.6.16.

Today saw the first research seminar celebrating research conducted in school by pupils at Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow. Sincere thanks to Jonathan Firth, Head of Psychology and board member of the Hutchesons’ Centre for Research for setting it up.

Joining us here at Hutchesons’ was Professor Gwyn Gould and Dr Mark Murphy, both of the University of Glasgow, who spoke on the importance of independent research in school education. Sincere thanks to all our speakers!

Two new books by our team:

Jonathan Firth has published a new textbook for National 5 and Higher Psychology and Philip Tonner has published an introduction to phenomenology and aesthetics:
